The Mobile Caravan Man
SO, it's been a while since I've blogged... 2020 has been a very strange year. Just as the Season was getting going we had an enforced lockdown. Luckily??? Deb managed to find things to keep me busy.
With the announcement that caravan sites were to re-open the 'phones went mad. I hope I've contacted everybody that 'phoned, or emailed me, if I missed you I apologise. I'm now looking forward to a few days off at the end of the month. Stay save everybody and let's carry on caravanning. August 2020
I have to warn people to be wary when purchasing second hand - sold as seen - caravans. I have recently visited a more mature couple who had invested £1,500 in a used caravan to see if they liked caravanning. The electrical wires from the caravan had been cut underneath the caravan, this was not visible but meant it was not possible to connect the caravan to an electrical supply. There was some considerable damp in the caravan which is not a cheap thing to rectify and, upon closer inspection, there was a large hole in the caravan floor which had been covered by a piece of thick plywood. In all a purchase which was not fit for use. A pre-purchase inspection, they agreed, could have saved them £1,500 and upset.
Two new customers booked this week, I'm really grateful to everyone that recommends me to their friends. Feb. 2018
Another great week at Church Farm, Ovington, I can't believe how well the site improvements are progressing. Dec. 2016
Just over a week to go before we head off to Somerset. Oct 2016
I am really looking forward to a few days off as it has been manic.
I cannot recommend Outney Meadow near Bungay highly enough. Lovely flat, clean site in beautiful surroundings. This was our first visit here but we will definitely be going back.
Brilliant, wet, few days. Many thanks to Bob and Marieanna at Church Farm, Ovington for making us so welcome as usual and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
If anyone is going to be winter caravanning don't forget to give me a call to have your gas and electrics checked, it's getting a bit chilly out there :)
Just had a few days at Church Farm, Ovington, great time as usual, thanks Marieanna and Bob. 24/08/15
Just read a lovely review from a customer on my Facebook page. 26/03/2015
Brilliant couple of nights at Ovington again, really nice to catch up with Bob and Marianna. And we had the site to ourselves.
Had a lovely little break at Old Bridge, North Walsham, walked the dogs, did a bit of fishing and just chilled. Superb.
Four customers recommended me last week and two new customers are going to book me when their caravan services are due. :)
Away next week to Church Farm, Ovington, can't wait. Had a busy time catching up following a bout of sickness, which is very rare for me but fit and raring to go again now.
Stubbs Hill Farm, Spooner Row, Norfolk.
Just back from a short break at Stubbs Hill Farm, Spooner Row and what a great time we had. This 5 caravan pitch site is on a little lane with only one other property on the road so it is lovely and quiet. Getting pitched was easy as the field is so level and with the water supply and the shower room just a stone throws from our pitch a lazy couple of days was had by all. Eggs from the owner's own chickens was the topping on the cake. Definitely will be going back there soon.
Lovely couple of days on this little site in north Walsham. Purchased fresh eggs and a lovely cake from the site warden. For a quiet couple of nights this is a must.
Puddledock Farm, Thetford, Norfolk
Just back from a few days at this fabulous site. Our pitch was close to the enclosed dog run which is lovely as we have three dogs but we don't let two of them off lead unless we are in a secure area.
There is a signed two and a half mile walk through the forest which we did three times and it was so peaceful and the dogs had more than enough to sniff at along the route.
The facilities are great and the wardens more than helpful and very friendly. The site is accessed through a barrier which is code operated. Well worth a visit.
Church Farm, Watton (Ovington), Norfolk
A firm favourite again if you're looking for quiet, lovely huge field catering for five or six caravans or tents. We love watching the birds and wildlife, we've seen a barn own, loads of rabbits and on our last stay we saw a fox.
The owners are terrific, so friendly and helpful and Maria Anna is a terrific cook. We had tea and cake one afternoon, it was great. Electric hook-up, fresh water, chemical disposal point, one shower & toilet all for £15.00 per night, arrive when you like & leave when you like.
Spent a lovely couple of nights at a little site in Hickling, it was so quiet and peaceful as
it's accessed by a small country road. We met a couple there from Leeds who had been
visiting the site for 25 years, that's some recommendation.
The owners were lovely and friendly telling us to arrive when we liked and leave when we
liked, in fact we had to go in search of them to pay them for our pitch.
Approx. 400 yards from the site there's a nice spot to fish from, with electric hook-up, fresh water and chemical waste disposal all for £10.00 a night you can't go wrong.
